Projects 127-129: Jade Cluster Necklaces March 16, 2011

These next three necklaces were all made with the same basic design, but with different colors of jade gemstones and then different crystal or metal spacer beads.  I especially love the flower toggle clasps used on two of these…It just gives the projects a more vintage feel….

The only downfall to these necklaces is that since these are all gemstone and real crystal they are very heavy, but then again, you won’t have to worry about losing it, because if it fell off you would definitely feel it :)

I made these back in November…

These were really fun to make….now I just need to find events to wear all this stuff to…..

Don’t go away, there is a ton more to see in this marathon project posting session I’m on :)

Project 103 of 365: Leaves of Gratitude November 17, 2010

I am sooooo in love with the Day of Gratitude stamp set in the current Holiday mini catalog!!!!  I have more card ideas, and borrowed ideas from others over at Splitcoast Stampers than I know what to do with :)
I believe I cased this card from Mary Brown, but if I am incorrect please let me know.  I am more than happy to give credit where credit is due…..
You  are all probably wondering how my new job selling cars is going…..so far so good….as you have probably guessed by my lack of time to get all of my oh-so-fun projects posted here…..Plus I really gotta update this page….I haven’t even had time to get the new catalog and specials posted here for you.  Oh the fun of time management and trying to fit 36 hours of work into every 24 hours :)

Project 101 of 365: Just Believe Birthday Card October 12, 2010

Well, as of yesterday I have been back at my old job of selling Mercedes Benz for one week….but I haven’t sold any cars yet….LOL!!  I expected it to take awhile to get back in the game.  I have to re-learn everything I forgot, and learn everything that has changed, plus become calmer so that I come accross as more confident to my customers.   Gee….its so much easier to “sound” confident on line…haha.  I’m sure the nerves will calm soon enough :)   Too bad “almost” only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, because I’ve “almost” sold a bunch of cars.  LOL!!!!!

I’ve also been too tired to post anything when I get home from work, as my body still hasn’t gotten used to my new schedule.  I was so used to staying up late (especially since my husband works late), so trying to get to bed earlier has been a struggle, but slowly all is settling in :)

As always, I have a huge PILE of projects just waiting to be blogged about.  Starting with this cute birthday card I made for my sister-in-law a few weeks ago.  This card is cased, and I will add the name of the original crafter as soon as I find it.  (I’m on a break at work, and my notes are at home.)

Project 91 of 365: Pumpkin Patch September 23, 2010

One more card in my texture folder adventure…

This one is based off a card made by Geraldine Andrade.  I found her card while browsing samples at the Stampin Up demonstrator only site.  Her card uses the same basic layout, but I changed up the colors, and since I didn’t have that fabulous new punch from the Holiday Mini catalog I just used rectangles and the ticket corner punch for the greeting.  I also added some large brads in the upper right to help balance out the layout.

Projects 89-90 of 365: Pumpkin Thank You’s September 22, 2010

A few days ago I stumbled across another blogger with a great Stampin’ Up! blog.  Her blog is Odden Designs (and while I didn’t copy the web address to link :( I do know it shows up right away if you google Odden Designs.  Well, she had these really cute, simple 3×3 thank you cards that I just loved.  So I had to make the 3×3 pumpkin card for myself (completely copied from her card) and then I made a simple modification by adding another, different shaped pumpkin and made it into a 4×4 card. So quick and simple that it will be hard for you to resist making these cards for yourself too :)

Project 88 of 365: Punched Stars Card

This is the second card in my “Day of Texture” cards that I’m posting today.  I really couldn’t decide what greeting to put on the front of this one, so you could use it as a notecard with no greeting on it, or there is plenty of space on the right side to add a greeting.  My first instinct was that this would make a perfect Father’s Day card, but since it is September I really didn’t want to commit to that :)  This would also make a good masculine birthday card or thank you card…

Seriously….It’s all about the embossing folder and a little ink to distress and bring out the embossing…love the effect.

Project 87 of 365: Vintage Wallpaper Fall Card

Where the heck have I been for the past 12 days.  Lol!   Well I have been BUSY.  I have gotten lots of projects done, but with no time to post them.  I was in total home repair/improvement mode.  After getting the much needed storm damaged windows replaced I had a bunch of trim work to do (paint, and fill in the nail holes).  Then several windows needed new window treatments since some of the windows had to become different sizes, or styles, so I finally broke out that sewing machine I begged my husband to get me last Christmas so that I could learn to sew, and I made my own Roman Shade for my craft room.  I am sooooo proud of that shade…I need to take a picture of it and post it on here.  It took me two days to make it (An experienced person could have finished it in a few hours…but I haven’t sewn anything since high school home ec  class) and I was so surprised at how well it worked out!!!

Well all of this spawned more improvements that I have been just dying to do……I painted and then put up a custom closet system in my dream walk-in closet  (since we all know 12o year old houses don’t have walk -in closets it is actually this weird bonus room that was added to our TINY master bedroom as part of an addition to the house by a previous owner, and since I hated having a weird L-shaped bedroom with NO closet space I decided to put up closet doors, and make a really BIG dream closet.)

After that I just HAD to finish up the kitchen…..I love the color the previous owner painted the kitchen, but it was like they didn’t finish it because they didn’t paint the parts of the kitchen where the cabinets are????  It looked so drab and boring on the walls where all the cabinets and stove are because the walls were white, and the cabinets are super plain white cabinets.  So I got some more of that beautiful earthy blue color as what is on the other 2 1/2 walls  (its pretty dramatic….I’ll have to get some pictures of this up here too.) and painted above and below the cabinets.  This $30 worth of paint made it look like such a different kitchen.  Before it was blah, boring, and outdated….Now its updated and modern.  I really can’t believe this big of a change came from just painting!!

I’ve also done quite a few other smaller things….I’ve been on such a home improvement kick.  It’s been all about those inexpensive finishing touches that have been missing.  Plus I think I’m really into fixing stuff because things are finally starting to go right with this place, and I’m starting to LOVE my house again.  I was getting soooooo frustrated, because everything was going wrong with this place for the longest time….Every time we tried to fix something we ran into bigger problems, but starting with the window installation everything started to finally go our way!!!!  The new windows are AMAZING….now we just need to find a way to save up the money for the rest of the windows (we were only able to do 6 windows, but at least that included all the biggest windows.)

But now I’m back, and today it is all about texture.  I’ve said it before and I will say it again….I love all the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders (by Sizzix).  On several of the cards that I will be posting today the embossing is actually the focus of the card.

Project 82 of 365: What the Hail??? September 6, 2010

Oh yeah, you heard me right, “what the hail?”  So this morning my husband and I were awakened by the sound of HAIL battering the house, his truck, and scattering  leaves and branches everywhere.  Seriuosly…..Can’t our house just catch a break this year???  And it just figures that this would happen 1 WEEK after finally getting the windows replaced from the storm damage we got in July.  By the time I thought about getting the camera out to snap a few pictures of the craziness the pellets had already melted quite a bit, but you still get the idea of our rude awakening :)

Labor Day Hail 2010

Labor Day Hail 2010

Labor Day Hail 2010

These pictures were taken by hanging out of a second story window facing the back of the house….  One of the benefits of those fantastic new windows is that you can easily slide up the screen and hang out the window so all your neighbors (who were also checking for damage at their places) think your nuts… LOL!!!

I did make a pretty darn cute card tonight between running around doing tons of errands with my husband and cleaning up after the cookout we had last night.

I got the Just Buzzin By stamp set over a year ago, but like many of my “super cool, had to have them” sets I had yet to use it :)  So for the next few days expect to see a few more cards with this set as I have stamped and colored a bunch of images, but I have yet to use them on projects.

What I love about this card is the use of one of my new FAVORITE crafting tools….My Copic Sketch markers!!!!  I’m not an expert with the coloring technique, but I love it.  Images look so much more dimensional, and you can just keep blending and blending with no worry of crumbling up your paper, and if you get it too dark you just rub a lighter color into it until you have the perfect shade you were looking for.

I do admit, this is NOT a quick card.  The layout is sweet and simple, but to get the Copic coloring and shading right it takes time, not to mention the 20 minutes I spent intricately cutting all the shapes so I could pop them up on dimensionals.  The layout of the card is heavily inspired by a person who uses the name “happyinker” on Splitcoast Stampers, but the ribbon, and the coloring are all mine :)

Projects 5 & 6 of 365: Penciled Inspirations May 20, 2010

Yee Ha….I’m back, and determined to make my 365 Stampin’ UP! Projects in 365 days.  I am so excited that almost every time I check my hit calculator the number increases… People out there are already checking me out!!  Knowing people are watching will definitely keep me working towards this crazy goal of mine!

If any of you out there are within a 2 hour drive I sure could use a few more workshop bookings, and I would love to finally meet some people in the area that are either already in LOVE with paper crafting or are interested in checking it out.  I always provide free make & take projects at my workshop, so get a few people together and we can have a great evening of STAMPING!!  Just shoot me an email at betty.ray020@gmail.com and we will set it up…I can usually put things together on short notice as well.

I had actually stamped these images a couple of days ago, but was having a hard time finding layouts for them.  In the end I settled for something simple and sweet.  I just love these textured Specialty Designer Series Papers Stampin’ UP! has started using.  Granted….in the photos you can’t appreciate it as much but in person they are really something.  They are so thick and the texture gives them that little extra touch of richness that such a simple project needs.

These papers remind me of old school wall paper patterns which I just LOVE…..well…let me clarify what I mean by love.  I HATE, HATE, HATE wallpaper, can’t stand it, and just the thought of it brings up very angry feelings :)  I don’t think I can express the feelings of distaste strong enough.  I have vowed to never ever give a second thought to buying a house with wallpaper in it, even in the tiniest of doses.  This is stems back to a traumatic wallpaper removal experience I had a few months ago with a kitchen full of 1980′s blah (not retro-cool) wallpaper.  Yep, I can be a bit of a Drama Queen…  I think it was the biggest nightmare of all the do-it-yourself ideas I have ever had, and believe me, I have all kinds of wonderfully fantastic home improvement ideas.  Of course many of them don’t quite turn out like the beautiful pictures in my head (my poor, poor husband who puts up with these whims…).  I knew that the project would not be as easy as it looked or as easy as the “Home Network” makes it seem in all their lovely home remodeling programs, but GEE, really???  It took an entire week to just get the stuff down, and I must have taken some of my frustrations out on the wall itself, because there was much wall repair needed after the paper and glue came down.  Those walls should have just been thanking me they weren’t getting the wrath of the evil PMS monster…LOL!

But before I get too far off track, I do really love the patterns that were in the SUPER old fancy wallpapers.  Many of my friends know how I love to recreate these patterns on many other things.  I have even gone as far as to make my own “wallpaper” of sorts…..but it is safely encased in a frame to be looked at and enjoyed, but never to have to be scraped and sweated over to take it down…  I have even tossed around the idea of stenciling and entire wall in my Fantabulous crafting space, because I would rather spend a week putting it up than a week taking it down when I changed my mind years down the line :)

The second card (the one on the right) so reminds me of the old suitcases with hard sides and the leather or metal on the corners… I thought these were so cute and reminiscent of days gone by.
