Projects 56-66: New Baby Girl Scrapbook Kit July 20, 2010

Hi All,

You’ve probably been wondering were I disappeared to for the past week….Well I have been cooking up some really cool stuff for you.  To start with I am going to slowly start adding crafting kits for purchase to this blog (like the album kit posted today.)  My goal with these kits will be to make great projects which you can complete at home in about an hour or 2 without any special tools or supplies!!!  How cool is that?

The album kit I am posting today is designed for new born baby girls (I am working on a VERY similar album for new born boys, I just need to find paper with the “right” colors.)  This album is a 6×6 album, designed to stay as THIN as possible (less than an inch thick even after you add photos) so you can just slip it in your bag or desk, and you will have the perfect Brag Book for any time someone asks about your beautiful baby.

For $19.99 you will receive:

1. A very nice 6×6 album with 10 page protectors (20 pages).  This album cannot be expanded, it is designed to stay thin, so all pages are permanently inserted with no posts or rings.

2.  All the die-cuts shown in all the pictures below.  Plus, any die cut made of multiple layers is already assembled for you!!!  So no need for you to try and solve the puzzle of how/where to attach the tiny layers 🙂

3.  All the patterned and solid CARDSTOCK (not thin paper) used.  Again, to keep this album as thin as possible, both sides of each sheet are used.  This is very high quality (non SU) cardstock which is solid on one side and patterned on the other.  Since it is very sturdy you can use both sides, saving you from an unsightly over-bulging album.

4.  You will also be emailed a PDF of all instructions (including photos) to complete the album.  The BEST part is that all you need to complete the album is the adhesive of your choice and a couple markers, and you can complete this album in 1 hour (maybe 2 hours if you add photos right away.)

While this will be presented as several projects (for the purpose of fulfilling my 365 in 365 goal) you will receive EVERYTHING in this post as part of your KIT!!

Projects 11 & 12 of 365: “A Day at the Beach” and “Stenciled Inspirations” May 28, 2010

Hi All,

It’s been a few days, but I am back, and as promised back to a more positive attitude!!  Yesterday I held a small workshop up in Kaukauna, WI, and we had a lot of fun.  We even put together some ideas for future events….So hopefully I will be keeping myself busy 🙂  Plus, as it turns out, one of the girls gave me a good lead on a retirement community about 45 min from here that would probably have fun doing crafts.  Many of you don’t know this, but for awhile I was doing crafts twice a month at an Assisted Living Facility in Caledonia, WI.  I had SOOOO much fun there, but unfortunately they were a newly opened facility and since they did not have many residents yet, they did not have room in their budget, and even with the HUGELY discounted prices I gave them they were unable to continue inviting me back 😦  I actually really miss going there!!  So I’m pretty excited that I might get to go back to doing crafts in retirement and/or assisted living communities again.  It’s just so much fun when their eyes light up like little kids that they were able to create something so pretty.  The ladies (and occasionally, depending on the project, I would get some of the men to join us) would all be sitting in our “craft area” long before I even arrived because they were so excited to make something new.  Gee, I really do miss them…..maybe I should give a call over there and see if they are ready for me to come back yet?????

On another happy note….Our new downstairs tenants will be moving in next week.  This is super cool for many reasons.  First, the apartment won’t be vacant since the last tenants are moving out this week (they were picture perfect tenants.  I am sad to see them go….why do 20-something girls have to fall in love and move in with their 7-year boyfriends….lol…Congrats to her.) But more importantly, I found out that one of the new tennants also has a fascination with paper products!!  She is an illustrator, and while I didn’t ask her specifically what she did, I guess I just pictured “commercial” type of work….but I checked out her blog a couple days ago, and she actually does a lot of wedding invites, and such.  While she is a true artist, i.e. she draws all her images, while I just make stamps and such look pretty it is still cool to know that we might be able to bounce some ideas off each other.  Plus I think some of her images would make AWESOME rubber stamps….  Not only that, but when she was viewing the apartment I had somewhat jokingly tossed around the idea of starting a screen printing business in the basement since she illustrates, and I had recently bought I hobby screen print set-up and realized how easy it was.  In some ways I was just happy that she didn’t think I was a crazy lady and run out of the house…as those who know me better will attest that when I like something I tend to get very excited like a little kid.. 🙂   So I was quite surprised when she answered my email and actually brought up our screen printing conversation from a couple months ago.  Seriously….how cool would it be to start our own little screen printing company in the basement and/or garage……When they get here next week I will do my best to keep my excitement under check and not jump up and down like a little kid, and give them plenty of time to settle in before I try to get anyone to jump into business LOL!!!  But it is pretty exciting to have someone moving in that shares some of the same interests….Plus, even though she is moving from New Orleans, she actually knows more people in Milwaukee than I do….Then again, I guess that is not too shocking since I probably know about 1o people here….I really need to get out more.

I knew there was one more exciting thing today….I am going to watch the new “Sex and the City” movie tonight with Tina.  I’m gonna call her my bestest Milwaukee friend, even though I haven’t know her all that long.  (Our husbands work together.)  We have already found ways to get into all kinds of “trouble,” granted innocent trouble.  We are both light weights where you have no idea what kind of crazy ideas we will get in our heads when we have a drink or 2 (and I am being serious when I say a drink or 2, cus that’s about all we can handle, lol).  So I am a bit concerned since she said we should have a cosmo before the movie to get  “In the Spirit.”  Hopefully she doesn’t tackle me in the parking lot again….Maybe I should wear football pads tonight…just in case 🙂

Now, before you all fall asleep, here are a couple super SIMPLE 6×6 scrapbook pages for you.  The first one “A Day at the Beach” is one of the make-and-take projects I did for yesterdays workshop.

Project 3 of 365: Vintage Vogue 6×6 Page May 17, 2010

Here we go, here we go, here we go Now…..I am on a roll….Or I’ve just had too much caffeine 🙂  Either way I am back with project #3!!  I made this project for a workshop I held about a week ago for my great friends in Green Bay, WI.  I miss them so much now that I am in Milwaukee, but lucky for me they all love crafts too and often invite me up there to hold my workshops.

My inspiration for this 6×6 scrapbook page comes from page 26 of the Occasions Mini catalog that just expired April 30, 2010….But have no fear as ALL the items used in the project below are still available at My Stampin’ UP! Shop!  I was so excited when Stampin’ UP! announced that certain items in the Occasions Mini would still be offered, not only that but they will be added to the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog set to come out July 1, 2010.  The “Vintage Vogue ” set that I absolutely fell in love with is one of those carryover items.  HOORAY!!!

On with the show….Every time I picked up that catalog I would just stop on page 26 and admire that scrapbook layout.  I loved the Right 2/3 of it.  The combination of the White background and Crushed Curry just spoke to me, and I gotta tell you I’m really not a big fan of Yellow  LOL!  Then when it was mentioned that there would be people at this workshop who had never done scrapbooking before, but were very interested in trying it out I immediately knew I had to find a way to turn this 8 1/2 x 11 page into an easy 6×6 Make-and-Take project.  If you look at the original you will be able to see the adjustments I made, and can judge for yourself which version better suits your needs 🙂

– Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430-  you should always have tons of these on hand, that little 3D pop makes a huge difference in your projects)

Some of the Smaller details that you may not see clearly in the photo is that the Soft Suede Strip is ran through the Sizzix Big Shot machine using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder, and the Pretty in Pink Strip is randomly stamped in Pretty Pink Ink using the vine-ish stamp from the Vintage Vogue Set.  Then The big F is stamped in Old Olive ink, cut out, and attached to the shape cut with the Matchbox die using Stampin’ Dimensionals…..before attaching the F….color just the word “friends” from the F stamp with Soft Suede Marker (right on the rubber stamp) then stamp this on that die cut…then attach your “F” lining it up with where you stamped “friends.”   Basically ALL the little cut out embellishments are attached using Stampin’ Dimensionals to give them just that little POP that makes your project go from ho-hum to AWSOME…….look at that I am even rhyming now….I gotta cut back on the caffeine.

In case you are wondering who the “hotties” in the photo are 🙂  On the right is my bestest friend Kelly, and on the left is yours truly.
