39 of 365: Monotone Bloomin’ Beautiful June 29, 2010

I’m back…the second card in my tribute to the retiring Bloomin’ Beautiful set is this monotone card with a splash of melon mambo.  I really love the look of these black and white cards that just use color to frame or pop the project.  My little twist on this one is that I used basic gray and white instead of the full out black and white.  Once again I also highlighted one of the blooms with the Crystal Effects.

Project 38 of 365: Bloomin’ Beautiful Velvet

Hi All!

Today I decided to do a tribute to a stamp set that I am very sad to be seeing retire tomorrow 😦  I just love the flower stamp from the Bloomin’ Beautiful set, and just as I am starting to use it more and more it has to go and retire on me.  So here is my tribute….3 cards to honor “Bloomin’ Beautiful.”

This first card is pretty darn cool.  I liked it even more when I accidently tore the old olive paper while in the process of distressing it.  I decided to continue with that piece by just haphazardly pasting it back together, because what says distressed better than torn and tattered??? Doesn’t that wrinkled and inked background look fabulous?

This photo doesn’t show it very well, but the red part of the flower is heavily covered with Crystal Effects.  This glassy dimensional element is what takes this card from good to great!  Before I forget to mention it…this card was inspired by a card made by Victoria Harrell.  She posted a similar card on the demonstrator only site, and this is my take on her card, with several alterations.

Well that’s my start to my Bloomin’ Beautiful Tribute. More to come shortly…

Project 22 of 365: Black and White with a POP of Color June 11, 2010

So I am sitting here giddy like a school girl because all my SU 2010-2011 Sneak Peak items are arriving tomorrow.  I already know that I will be sitting by the front window watching for the UPS truck to arrive all morning….Even though I know the UPS guy doesn’t get here until 12:30-2:30.

I don’t know which I am more excited about….all the great new stuff I ordered or that I will finally get to see the new catalog.  Each demo gets a complimentary copy of the new catalog with their June order!!!  But if any of you out there want to purchase your very own catalog contact me at betty.ray020@gmail.com and I will put you on my pre-order list for when the rest of the catalogs arrive nearer the end of June.

I have been hearing all kinds of good stuff about the new catalog from those who have already received theirs.  By the way it sounds I should probably be concerned about ending up bankrupt from all the NEW stuff that I will just “HAVE” to have.

Today’s project is so pretty.  I have seen interior decorating shows where they decorated rooms almost entirely in black and white, but then just added a splash of color here and there to finish off the look.  This always ends up looking so elegant!  So that is my inspiration for this card.

Project 13 0f 365: Anniversary Explosion Box May 30, 2010

13 of 365: Anniversary Explosion Box

Hi All!

The project I am posting today is a belated Anniversary gift for some friends.  When I posted my first blog they had mentioned they liked the Explosion Box Project, and since I had neglected to make them an Anniversary Card, I told them I would make them one if they told me what colors they liked.  Tina said she liked Green and her husband liked Dark Purple, so I hope the colors I used are close enough.  I will soon find out as I will be giving this to them when I head over there in a little while for a pre-Memorial Day cookout!  Yum- Yum…I can’t wait…..Plus I get to give them their gift in front of other people…and maybe, just maybe, some of those people will want one too 🙂

I have been thinking about either holding an Explosion Box class or selling them per request (incorporating colors/themes the people want.)  I am still working out how much is a fair price….So if any of you out there would like me to make an Explosion Box for you, or are interested in hosting a class let me know!!  Email me at betty.ray020@gmail.com.

These boxes really show better when they are filled with pictures and momentos….so click HERE to be taken to the original one I made a couple weeks ago which looks more polished since it is full of pictures and other little things 🙂
