Project 54 of 365: Friends Never Fade in Baja Breeze July 12, 2010

Another fabulous item in the new catalog is the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper.  It’s just so pretty and coordinates so well with the Friends Never Fade set.  I am an admitted DSP hoarder, but I think this blog has helped me stop that nasty habit.  My problem was that I was always buying all the pretty papers, but then never using them.  I was always saving them for some special occasion that never seemed to come along..  LOL!  I have no idea why I do that.  So shortly after I started this blog, and really took a good look at the piles of beautiful paper I already owned I made a commitment to myself….either use it or if its really so pretty that it needs special attention frame it and hang it on the wall.  Since my walls are not covered with framed patterned paper LOL, I think have finally broken my pretty paper hoarding habit.

Project 52 of 365: Friends Never Fade 3×3 Card

Don’t you just love this new stamp set (Friends Never Fade)?  I think that’s why I cased all these cards….This is one of the sets that’s really hot right now, so everyone is using it…meaning if you purchase it (thru me or anyone else) you will have no problems finding more ideas and examples than you know what to do with.

This next card is just a 3×3 little thank you note, or you could adjust it and make it into a gift tag by simply changing the greeting.  This card is cased from another card from the demonstrator-only website by Terri Walker.

Projects 46-50 of 365: Creating with Artistic Etchings July 9, 2010

I’m Back!!! 🙂

First off, all I can say is my grandmother is one tough cookie.  She is somehow still ticking, but it won’t be long….now it will be a blessing when she goes, as even with all the pain medication you can still see that she is in absolute agony.  I now pray each day that “God” will help her find the peace she needs.  Thank you to everyone for the emails, texts, and phone calls of support.  It has meant so much to me.  It has been hard to deal with the double sorrow of the situation…sadness that she will soon be gone, and very sorry for the pain that she is somehow enduring.  The hardest part is seeing her in such pain and wishing, with all my heart, there was something I could do to take the pain away.

So please forgive me but this post will be a quick one.  I will be simply posting the projects, photos, and supplies (no fun chit chat today…)

Project 34 of 365: Baja Breeze Wedding June 22, 2010

So it has been a few days since my last post….It has been pretty busy around here.  Went to a wedding on Saturday, went to Polish Fest on Sunday (yep, my husband is half Polish and half Italian), and survived some more crazy weather yesterday.  Suffice it to say I was not going to be in the third level of our house while we were under a Tornado WARNING 🙂  Luckily, living so close to Lake Michigan (just a few blocks away), once all the crazy stuff hit the cooler air of the Lake everything simmered down, and passed over us.  Unfortunately, we can not say the same for areas just West of us that were hit by the same storm.

I have NEVER been good about being alone in serious weather.  Some people think its a thrill, but not me, I am the first one into the basement every time. My husband laughs at me, but if he thinks I am bad now he should have seen me as a little kid where I would actually be crying out of fear that a tornado was going to get me.  I used to even have reoccurring nightmares about running from tornadoes and having nowhere to go.  At least now I am fine with thunder and lightening, and even wind, but I still don’t do well when they start reporting serious wind damage, or there are reports of tornadoes anywhere near or heading in our direction.

I have found a system that helps me NOT panic, and keeps me calm enough to handle the storms without giving it away to others that I am actually terrified.  I have an actual action plan of what to do.  I think the reason why it works so great is that it keeps me busy organizing, and doesn’t leave time for panic.  It is all planned out, I know exactly what to do.  The best part is that EVERY time I have put my action plan into action (because of actual tornado warnings or sirens) the storms always deteriorate or quickly pass without any of the forecasted dangers.

On to happier things…

The project I am posting today is the card that I made for the wedding we attended this past Saturday.  I chose the colors to match the colors they used on their invitations.  On this card I did a few “extra” things that I do not do often; I simply decorated a coordinating envelope, as well as putting a little extra effort into decorating the inside of the card.

That is all for now.  Check back soon, as I have been working on a huge organization project for organizing your paper and stamps!!  It is taking a long time to complete this, but it will all be worth it when completed!!

24 of 365: Top Note Business Card Holder June 13, 2010

A few days ago I ran across a lovely business card hold made using the Sizzix Big Shot and Stampin’ Up! Top Note Die.  The one I found had flowers on the front of it (like the one I made.) as well as a link to a tutorial by Nicole Kowalk.  So I used Nicole’s Template (with some adjustments), but I can not find the person who gave me the idea for the flowers on the front again….

24 of 365: Top Note Business Card Holder

I just love the vintage look of this one.  I created the flowers with patterned paper and edged them with chocolate chip ink.  Then, as with any vintage project, I threw in a few pearls for good measure 🙂  On the top center of the card holder I wanted to add a “Please take one” stamp, like in the tutorial.  I thought I had a stamp like that, but I don’t, so I am still thinking of what to put there…..Maybe I will just create some word art and print it on cardstock to say “StampinBetty”?????

Supplies:

Paper:

  • To the Nines Specialty Designer Series Paper (you need the thicker paper for this project to be sturdy)
  • Autumn Vine DSP (retired)

Ink:

  • Chocolate Chip

Accessories:

  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • Top Note Die
  • XL Fancy Flower Punch
  • White Grosgrain Ribbon (wish I would have used vanilla)
  • Large Oval Punch
  • Tombow Glue
  • Sticky Strip
  • Pearls

To find the tutoral please visit Nicole’ Blog, and then make adjustments as needed for your project….

If you would like me to make you your very own personalized business card holder please email me at betty.ray020@gmail.com, and we will come up with a reasonable price and get you an awesome business card holder!!
