Projects 46-50 of 365: Creating with Artistic Etchings July 9, 2010

I’m Back!!! 🙂

First off, all I can say is my grandmother is one tough cookie.  She is somehow still ticking, but it won’t be long….now it will be a blessing when she goes, as even with all the pain medication you can still see that she is in absolute agony.  I now pray each day that “God” will help her find the peace she needs.  Thank you to everyone for the emails, texts, and phone calls of support.  It has meant so much to me.  It has been hard to deal with the double sorrow of the situation…sadness that she will soon be gone, and very sorry for the pain that she is somehow enduring.  The hardest part is seeing her in such pain and wishing, with all my heart, there was something I could do to take the pain away.

So please forgive me but this post will be a quick one.  I will be simply posting the projects, photos, and supplies (no fun chit chat today…)

Project 7 of 365: Clyde Turns 3!! May 21, 2010

Hi All!

I’m back….Today I decided to try something I haven’t really worked with much..  My Digital Studio by Stampin’ UP!  I really don’t know why I don’t spend more time with this program….It has a lot of cool options and things to play with.  Normally, I am all about gadgets and technology.  Afterall, I am one of those people who will stand in line when things like the iPhone get released, yet, Stampin’ UP! comes up with a digital program to use their exclusive colors, papers, embellishments, and stamp sets, and I just leave it to get lost in the mounds of data in my overworked MacBook Pro…..

I’ve been browsing the internet a lot lately for inspiration to keep up with my challenge of completing 365 Stampin’ UP! Projects in one year…There are a lot of people out there using My Digital Studio with fantastic results….so just like many of my other Stampin tools that I leave collect dust, I realized it was time to get in there and figure it out already.  While I am no where near as up-to-speed on this software as I should be I am letting you all see the simple page I created today.  The way I see it….it can only get better from here.  (LIke if I take the recommended online tutorials offered to Demonstrators by Stampin’ UP!)

Today’s Project Inspiration:

Today is one of our cuddly bullmastiff’s birthday.  Clyde turned 3 today.  Mike, my husband, pretty much thinks I am insane because I make a big deal out of their birthdays.  OK…..I know they don’t know its their birthday, but for some reason it just seems important to me to recognize it.  Tis true…I sing “Happy Birthday” to them while I feed them on their birthdays…  They are like my kids afterall…. 🙂

Anyways…..Clyde is so adorable, he has the typical Mastiff face that makes it look like he is always sad.  If you want to see “Puppy Dog” eyes I don’t think any dog can beat his.  I laugh at him and make jokes that he needs Puppy Prozac because he looks like he is about ready to jump off a tall building.  He is such a laid back, cool dog.  The only things that can make him excited are Walks, Treats, and usually a brand new chew toy….his favorite being those knotted ropes that he can chew on for hours.

So, for his birthday (after Mike went to work…since he picks on my for doing these things) I ran to the pet store and got him a new rope to play with.  I even got a second one so Bella (our 2 yr old bullmastiff who is much more hyper!!) would actually let him play with it instead of pouncing on him and stealing it.  I was so excited when I walked in the door….I was expecting him to run up to me, tail wagging, just begging me to give him the new rope in my hand.  Instead, he couldn’t have been less interested!!! LOL!  I had to dangle the thing in his face for 5 minutes, then he finally took it…..chewed on it less than a minute….and then left it lay on the floor while he wandered off to be alone and lay around all mopey looking……And people wonder why I call him “Eeyore.”

I ran and got my camera, snapped a bunch of “Mopey” pictures of him then it was up to my craft room to make a scrapbook page of Clyde’s reaction to his birthday…..Maybe turning 3 for a dog brings up the same feelings as turning 30 does in people….But I don’t think I took my 30th birthday as harshly as Clyde is taking his 3rd 🙂

My Digital Studio- Stampin’ UP!

While it was fun playing with this program….for what ever reason I experience more joy crafting the old-fashioned way.  I like cutting, coloring, stamping, making a big mess, and what-have-ya……Crafting is my therapy, so I guess I find it more therapeutic to get in there and get my hands dirty 🙂  But working with My Digital Studio will be fun for working on hybrid projects (where you mix the digital and hand-made in the same project), when I am in a pinch for time, or when I am traveling and I am looking for a way to pass time…afterall, I rarely go anywhere without my trusty macbook.

To purchase your copy of  “My Digital Studio” or supplies to complete any of the projects found here shop at my Stampin’ UP! site.  Your purchases help to support me in my challenge to complete 365 projects in 365 days.

Until Next Time,

Project 4 0f 365: Combining Challenges “Mojo Monday 139” and “Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 30”: Gettin’ Dirty May 19, 2010

Hi All,

First of all excuse the long title.  My true title for this project is “Gettin’ Dirty” cus its not a clean one….hehehe.

So, my first non-coerced reader, Rebecca, introduced me to an online paper crafting challenge called “Mojo Monday,” this is where the layout from this design is from.  When I saw the sketch I knew it had potential….and not wanting to copy anyone else this time I ended up just sitting and staring at the layout sketch trying to figure out just where to start.

After awhile I sat it down to get some other work done….In the meantime I ran accross another weekly challenge called “Curtain Call Color Challenge” and from the combination of these two challenges comes my card “Gettin’ Dirty”.  Combining the two challenges really did make it easier to get started….I already knew my basic layout, and I knew what colors I would be using, so now all I had to do was fill in the blanks.

The Color Challenge Colors were: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Kraft, and Pink Pirouette.  Of course I immediately thought how the heck am I going to get this BOLD pumpkin pie to mesh with my more subtle pink, white, and kraft????  Then ding, ding, ding…..this is where the “Gettin’ Dirty” party comes in……DISTRESS the heck out of everything!!!

While I’m not totally in love with the outcome I do appreciate it….This challenge pushed me to use colors together that I normally wouldn’t.  While it’s not likely I will be pairing Pumpkin Pie and Pink Pirouette again in the near future, it does open my eyes to experimenting more with non-traditional color pairing.

Without further ado…….
