Project 55 of 365: Friends Never Fade in Pear Pizzazz July 12, 2010

I saved my favorite one for last tonight.  The background paper in this one truly reminds me of retro kitchen wallpaper 🙂

Believe it or not….I actually decorated the inside of this card.  I usually don’t put anything on the inside of the card until I go to use it, but I could tell by the little sliver the original creator left showing that she had replicated the main image in the lower corner of the inside as well, so I just had to do it too….after all I am being a total “follower” today since all of today’s cards are cased (with only minor changes).

Project 54 of 365: Friends Never Fade in Baja Breeze

Another fabulous item in the new catalog is the Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper.  It’s just so pretty and coordinates so well with the Friends Never Fade set.  I am an admitted DSP hoarder, but I think this blog has helped me stop that nasty habit.  My problem was that I was always buying all the pretty papers, but then never using them.  I was always saving them for some special occasion that never seemed to come along..  LOL!  I have no idea why I do that.  So shortly after I started this blog, and really took a good look at the piles of beautiful paper I already owned I made a commitment to myself….either use it or if its really so pretty that it needs special attention frame it and hang it on the wall.  Since my walls are not covered with framed patterned paper LOL, I think have finally broken my pretty paper hoarding habit.

Project 53 of 365: Friends Never Fade in Rich Razzleberry

Besides loving the stamp set that is the focus of all of today’s projects (Friends Never Fade) I am soooooo in love with the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Emboss Folder.   Actually I’m in love with all the embossing folders.  I use them all the time!!  Of all the crafty things I have ended up “wasting” money on, the embossing folders are definitely NOT something I have any buyer’s remorse from.

What’s so great about the emboss folders is that you can use the textured paper in place of the expensive patterned paper.  You can brayer craft ink in the emboss folder to create textured and printed paper all-in-one.  And sometimes a simple card can just use a little texture.  If you browse back over my past projects you will start to notice my love affair with textures 🙂   (Whether it is with emboss folders, dimensionals, textured paper, embosslits, or heat embossing, textures just make the project.)

Project 52 of 365: Friends Never Fade 3×3 Card

Don’t you just love this new stamp set (Friends Never Fade)?  I think that’s why I cased all these cards….This is one of the sets that’s really hot right now, so everyone is using it…meaning if you purchase it (thru me or anyone else) you will have no problems finding more ideas and examples than you know what to do with.

This next card is just a 3×3 little thank you note, or you could adjust it and make it into a gift tag by simply changing the greeting.  This card is cased from another card from the demonstrator-only website by Terri Walker.

Project 51 of 365: Friends Never Fade in White

Hi Everyone,

I have found an efficient way of keeping up with my 365 projects in 365 days challenge!!  If I sit down with just one stamp set at a time and create several projects focusing on just that stamp set I seem to get a lot of projects done in one sitting, and in not a lot of time.  This is a true life saver with all the driving I have been doing to spend time with my grandmother…And if I get the job that I have been crossing my fingers for, this efficiency will help me continue with this challenge 🙂

The stamp set I set my focus on today is the Friends Never Fade set from the brand new 2010-2011 Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  I was able to create 5 completely different cards in about 2 hours….How’s that for efficiency? I must confess that none of these are really “original ideas” and a couple are outright copies of other cards I have seen.  There are just so many awesome cards posted on various sites using this set that I just could not help myself but to make them for myself 🙂  I will give credit to the appropriate person on each card.

This card is basically a complete replication of a card made by Wendy Wexler (except the extra blob of ink.  lol. ) that I saw on the demonstrator-only website.

If you look closely you will see that I made an “oopsy” on this card.  My first thought was to start over, but then I remembered how I always tell everyone at classes and workshops, that it doesn’t matter if you mess up, just to go with it, because homemade cards aren’t supposed to be perfect.  If we wanted perfect cards we would go to the store and buy them.  (The mistake is the extra blob of green ink by the stem of the flower…I dropped the stamp..lol… If I didn’t point it out, and if you didn’t own the stamp, you may have just thought that was part of the stamp…)

Supplies:

Paper:

  • Whisper White

Ink: (All Markers)

  • Pear Pizzazz
  • Marina Mist
  • Daffodil Delight

Stamps:

  • Friends Never Fade
  • Because I Care

Accessories:

  • Marina Mist Ribbon
  • Vintage Wallpaper Emboss Folder
  • Large Oval Punch
  • Piercing Tool and Mat
  • Stampin Dimensionals

Keep checking back as I attempt to get all 5 of these cards posted tonight.  Believe it or not, it takes longer to post these to the blog than to make them 🙂
